Perched above the cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge, Gorge Crest Vineyards offers sweeping views that hardly need any introduction. With Mount Hood sitting quietly in the distance and that signature Gorge light, it’s easy to see why Milena and Reed chose this spot just outside of Hood River, about an hour from Portland, for their summer wedding. As a Portland Wedding Photographer, this kind of setting is always a favorite for a Mount Hood Wedding. The open sky, layered landscape, and steady breeze create something that feels both expansive and grounded.
From the beginning, Milena shared how much she and Reed connected with a candid, documentary approach. They wanted their day to feel natural and to stay present in it, and that intention carried through everything. They chose to do a first look, giving them a quiet, unrushed moment together before the ceremony. It was simple, emotional, and exactly what they needed to settle into the day.
Not everything went as planned. The guest shuttle bus broke down on the way to the venue, leaving some guests to walk the rest of the way. Still, everyone arrived smiling, dressed beautifully, and ready to celebrate. It shifted the tone in the best way and felt very true to who Milena and Reed are.
Their ceremony overlooked the Gorge with Mount Hood in the background, and everything from the colors to the florals felt naturally in sync with the setting. Nothing felt overdone. Just thoughtful details that moved with the light and the landscape. Throughout the day, their connection remained steady and easy, whether they were standing together during the ceremony or out on the dance floor later that night.
As the sun dropped, we stepped away briefly for portraits. The wind moved through, the light softened, and Mount Hood sat in the distance. It was one of those moments that defines a Gorge Crest Wedding. The night ended with a full dance floor and a kind of energy that lingers. This day was a reminder that while the setting is incredible, it’s the people and how they show up that make it unforgettable.
