Mount Hood Engagement Session
Mount Hood Engagement Session | Oregon
There’s something a little bittersweet about this one! Camille and Nick are heading back to the Midwest soon, and before they go, they wanted photos that feel like this chapter of their lives. Mountains, coastlines, long summer light, and the places around Portland that have come to mean something to them. They’ve explored them as a couple, and now, while planning their wedding, they’re taking on the views as almost husband and wife.
As a Portland Wedding Photographer, these are the sessions I care about most. Not just pretty locations, but places that actually matter to people. Mother Nature as a backdrop brings a whole new meaning to the photos.
Sunrise at Mount Hood
We started their Mount Hood engagement session at sunrise near Timberline Lodge. It meant a very early wake-up call, but it gave us that quiet, soft light you only get at the start of the day.
The trails were calm and the air was cool. No crowds yet, just open space and the mountain in full view. Camille and Nick took their time, walking along the trail, settling into the morning together. It felt easy and unforced, which is always the goal.
They had told me how much they’ve grown to love the Cascades while living here, and that came through naturally. It didn’t feel like we were trying to create something. It felt like documenting something that already existed.
A Midday Break
One of the best parts of summer in Oregon is how long the days are. So long! After the morning session, they had time to head back, rest, and reset before we met again for the coast. It made the whole day feel relaxed instead of rushed. I had a second cup of coffee, and I loaded up my playlist before driving to the Oregon Coast.
Sunset on the Oregon Coast
We met again that evening just north of Cannon Beach. The coast always brings a completely different energy. Wind, movement, softer light, and that wide open feeling.
We had views of Haystack Rock in the distance, with cliffs and forest surrounding us. It was one of those evenings where everything lines up. The light, the weather, the mood.
By that point in the day, they were fully settled in. Shoes off, a little tired, a little salty from the air, just enjoying it. That’s usually when the best moments happen.
Photos That Feel Like Home
This Mount Hood engagement session was never about fitting into a specific vision. Camille and Nick wanted photos that reflect the life they built here before heading back to Michigan for their wedding.
The mountains and the coast both played a role in that story, so we built the session around both. It ended up feeling like a full snapshot of their time in Oregon.
That’s always the goal for me as a Portland Wedding Photographer. Photos that feel real and personal, not just pretty.
