Hiyu Wine Farm Wedding / Hood River, Oregon

Laughing until her cheeks hurt with little Emma. She’s Jane;

Punching numbers into a calculator and excitedly holding it up as her mind transforms it into a camera. *Snap* Photo of grandpa. She’s Emma;

Placing wisps of delicate flowers in her sister’s hair as everyone is getting ready for the ceremony. She’s Sarah;

Tearing up as he sees his daughter for the first time on her wedding day. He’s Paul;

Wearing sunglasses on even a rainy day as he takes the role in his new suit very seriously. He’s sweet Nolan;

Holding the door open for family members entering the winery as rain begins to bead on the hood of his jacket. He’s Paul;

Reaching for his bride’s hand as they tour the vines before exchanging vows. He’s Duncan;

Taking her husband’s hand; excited, proud, grounded in every moment. She’s Kyla;

Carefully removing her glasses and taking her husbands hand after reading words of love and encouragement to her daughter and new son. She’s Diane;

Facilitating a perfectly simple ceremony with a quiet voice filled with confidence and adoration. She’s dear Cecilia.

This September day in 2019 was all about the family that has surrounded Kyla and Duncan throughout their relationship. While each individual has played a drastically unique role.. and while the ages among these family members spans decades.. the influence of all of this love and energy is holistic. And it is destiny in the purest sense.

Rain fell from the sky as low clouds lingered above everyone’s hearts, and this blanket of Oregon air provided comfort and stillness. Kyla and Duncan exchanged promises, tears, and smiles after receiving words of support from everyone in their circle. The creation of warmth and energy was certainly a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and to be in the presence of these beautiful people was not only an inspiration, but also a true honor.

Congratulations, Kyla and Duncan.
